Every year i spend just under two weeks in december, up to christmas, fishing the reach....

Every year we stay at Bayview Resort with my good friend Jackson. Now Jackson's working at Bruce Power, i'm on my own....

I had 'reserved' a room at the sportsman for that time, but was then informed that they are closed for the whole month of december.

tip of the bay is closed come the first week of november.

merlands...well, for 11 nights....i'm not rich.

so i was out a place to stay.

with SUPERDAD'S assistance, i was able to book at Perfect Vue for an AMAZINGLY affordable price....

Joanne was more than pleasant to deal with, as well as more than accomadating....

Just wanted to let ya'll know there are other options, albiet not many....keep perfect vue in mind....

(i'll be launching at the reach, so if your from afar, and are considering perfect vue, you will still have to launch near the ferry area)

Can't wait for december!!!! :D

Steve with your boat, you should be able to launch at the Sherman's ramp. Just go off the side of the ramp at an angle rather than straight out, as there's a big drop off at the end of the ramp and I've heard of a few axles being torn off there. I know the Fatman and a bunch of the Perfect Vue guys launch it there in that fashion. I'm going to try that this weekend. I'll bring a pair of waders just in case I have to go in. I hear the parking at the Ferry is now pretty much non-existent! Anyways, talk to you later.

cheers
Ken

thanks for the tip k&j. hope to see you two this winter.

my first choice for launching is always adolphutown...

its quite a run for me to head east of the ferry from sherman's....last year, during our trip, sherman's launch was frozen solid. :?

Steve,
Be careful at the Shermans ramp. There is no dock in the water for some time. Also it's very shallow late in the season and I hear this is one of the lowest water levels in recent years.
Your Boat will be off the end of the cement pad when launching plus the shallow water makes it difficult at best.
Better off launching at the ferry because you will be right at an open area due to the ferry churning up the ice in the area.... Larry

Yes the water is low. Put in at shermans on Friday and didnt notice that my wheels went off the cement. Luckily no damage. A few boats were put in there as noted. As for fishing, fished from 900 to 200- only a pike around 4 pounds. Lots of markings around shermans and thompsons as well as a few boats. did not see any nets over the side! I am sure the mommas will be turning on soon! Hope to be back soon (I hope!) As for boat launches, is the one at Deseronto ok for a 14 footer? Is there still one under the bridge to Picton at deseronto? Thanks :D

Steve,

You won't have any troubles launching at Shermans Ramp, even with low water and if your trailer wheels are off the pad, coming out slowly with even power the wheels will be ok.

Don't gun the engine and try and race out.

We put in and took out a week or so ago with my boat and the wheels were off the pad when we came out, but going slowly, the Explorer pulled the boat out nicely.

Look for PM Steve.

Cheers

David aka Superdad

Ditto on Perfect Vue. Joanne always goes out of her way to try and accomodate you. Stay there everyyear and have already reserved for 2008
