Fall surprise on Scugog

Gents,

Here is what happens when you fish for Walleye in the fall on Scugog!!

6lb line, Northland squishy jig, light action rod, 40min fight.......................25lb Musky

**Thanks to my buddy Jody, he did a great job position the boat so I could grab it with my hands.....NO NET!!

Nice Musky!!

Don't wanna sound negative here but did it live, I mean after a long fight like that some of them don't make it......just curious.

I'm hoping it swam away

Hey Fatpat,

Great question... The cold weather really helped. I babied it and revived it for a good 15min, just to make sure she swam away well. I know these big brutes can be quite sensitive to long fights.

You should have played it safe and clubbed that musky on the head when you got it in the boat. It's not worth a trip to the hospital over a fish. Contrary to what people say, musky are a very hardy fish and can take some abuse. Never pick-up a musky by the eyesockets, especially if you know the fish is wearing contacts.

Like I mentioned wasn't trying to be a power tripper .....

I myself love going for Musky trolling/casting , funny thing is when I'm trying for them brutes I've caught some brute Walleye using 8 to 10" baits LOL.

Here's a pic of one I got last summer casting a 10" squirrly ernie....

Took the pic of it in the net was by myself at the time but this Walleye was atleast 13 to 14lb'er and very girthy.

Anywho I'm just babbling now LOL,

Wow, nice Walleye...

It's always awesome hitting a surprise fish like a Musky while Walleye fishing or a Walleye while Musky fishing. My favorite is when a Pike or Musky actually attacks your walleye and is so intent on eating it that it never lets go. Happened 3 times in my life.
