Hi John I have not ventured out yet myself as it is not safe enough for me. I like 4-5 inchs especialy in the reach where the currents can be treacherous. I did drive down to huffs this afternoon for another look was hopeing to get out tomorrow. There were two guys at huffs fishing 20 yards off shore. I talked to them they said there was 3 inchs where they were fishing and were not going to venture out further. It was not to good last week when I drove down and reported and it doesn,t look much better. The snow we had yesterday will only make matters worse. I did drive down to shermans from huffs and down north shore road. Shermans has open water, there were two groups of anglers fishing straight out from the boat launch 200 yards or so off shore.Didnot venture out to talk to them I was hopeing they might be board users and at the least give an ice condition update tonight, but I see it didn,t happen. Further down I saw a group out from perfect vue. Down in the back of hay bay must be ok as i did see a couple of sleds driveing with trailers (one with kids) as well as two ice huts. The water is shallow so it may have some decent ice.I have not fished back there in the winter so not sure how productive it is. I,m still waiting ( I like my life) hope this helps!

Thanks for the Great post! That pretty well covers all the areas I fish. Since they are the easiest areas for me to access coming from Ottawa for the day.
I realise also that these areas have allot of current and are the last to freeze up and the first to reopen with warmer weather.
Ice on the Ottawa is over a foot thick on the back bays but is open in the main channel.
I guess I'll just fish here and wait for things to thicken up down there.
So far my biggest is a 6.5lb male eye, I caught last night in the Constance Bay area.

Good Luck
John

The ice should be getting good very soon. The weather is about the same as the weather in Ottawa.
