With the loss of all of our hard water it appears that I am going to have to launch my boat to land some hawgs. I was planning on launching near the bridge in Deseronto and it looks like it is open ( may have to watch of the odd bit of ice floating around), my only question would be if its ok to troll this time of year? My first thought was to anchor near that pilings at the bridge and jig in the current, but I had so much luck trolling a purple and silver Blue Fox this summer that its going to be hard to give up on it. Are the walleye to lethargic this time of year to catch them trolling?

I heard from a friend that was to be fishing tomorrow at the bridge. He said that there is a lot of ice piling up there as of this morning ... he watched it come down the Bay.

He's new to that area so not sure how bad it is though.

Cheers

I was suppose to fish in Deseronto this morning, my friend lives right beside the launch he said it was open last night but this morning alot of ice has shifted to that side but he also mentioned that a couple boats were out there fishing this morning...... they are launching somewhere but Im not sure where I plan on trying to get out tomorrow so any launch details for Deseronto would be appreciated.
Mike :)

I checked out the launch thats closest to the bridge on the 401 side, and it was clear yesterday. Even if there was a bit of ice, I'm sure you could maneuver around it. My buddies and I plan on launching without a trailer, just using man power that way you have more control over the launch. The only problem with that launch is that the dock isn't out that far.

Just thought that I would give an update. I just went down to the launch by the bridge, and 6 boats had used it. I saw two guys out there, one was drifting with the current by the bridge, while the other was anchored jigging. I think that I'll be anchoring on Monday.

You can lunch right under the bridge right now, Or maybe you did today. Saw a truck there today. Did you catch the fish on the blue fox in that area this summer? 8O

Actually no I didn't. Most of the time in the summer I launched out from the park in Deseronto and went straight for the hyrdro lines across the bay. I had a lot of luck back trolling in 8- 20 feet of water all summer long. However this time of the year I think that jigging should work much better.

I was out yesterday at rush bar didn't even get any perch, there was two other boats out there and they had the same results! I'm thinking about by the bridge or by quick short road.

Walleyecatcher,

Is Quick Short Road the same as Huff's Road?

Cheers,
Pete

the lighthouse being referred to is the one just west of the Skyway bridge, I'm heading out there tomorrow as long as the launch hasn't froze up.

I just checked the launch to see if it was still open, and things look good. I imagine that it'll freeze up here shortly though as its supposed to stay cold for a while. Tomorrow may be the last time out in a boat for a while. I pray that we get our fill. However a day on the Bay is better than a day at work!!
