Well this was my first year ice fishing out on the bay. To be honest I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but I knew where I could go to get some valuable information......Skevy's.

I just can't say enough about this guy. The first time I went to his shop was in the middle of the summer. With only reasonable results from the bass outings this year I thought I would go in and ask for some tips. What I got was about an hour of great insights from Ron. Patiently he showed me what I was doing wrong, and then gave me some tips on some new baits, my next outing was a hit. Non stop action.

So that being said, I knew that if I wanted success in my first year ice fishing that I would have to head to Ron's shop. What a great community of men that I ran into that day. Every man in the shop showed me their favorite lures and some even guided me to their honey holes. Things like this are so valuable that it makes a man want to ask his wife for a larger allowance. The next thing was to buy a hut. Ron introduced me to the HT Polar Express 2, and I begged my wife to let me buy 2 of them, Ron on the other hand advised me to only purchase one. And thats the reason why you gotta love this shop. He is one of the most reliable and trust worthy business men I know. His advise was to try one out first before buying them both, which is far more than I can say about the other stores that tried to sell me huts that day.

As for the HT, its great. Really keeps the wind off, and the kids happy. Well thanks Ron for all the great advise, and you'll be happy to know that my son can no longer go around telling all the other fishermen that I've been skunked 10 out of 10 times. After you went over my tackel and pointed out what I was missing I've been able to grab 4 eyes and 4 jumbo's in my last two outings. I guess you were right, a sidewinder was a must.

So if you've been plagued with bad luck as I was this year, head to skevy's. Seems that the curse has finally lifted.

PS. Ron, if my wife comes in looking for something for my Birthday, could you point her in the direction of your Vex? Thanks.

you could not have said it any better when you describe skevy's. ron is really quite knowledgeable about the bay and he should be seeing how he fishes it himself competitively. the best thing about ron as well as quinte outdoor sports is the won't steer you wrong. if they don't know something they won't lie to you to try to get you to come back and that's a great thing to be able to count on a fishing report, and take it as it is!!!!!!!! my hat off to you fellas....

keep you r eyes glued to your vex!!!!!
100% club
