Went to Hay Bay armed with some of Mr. Bakers' finest muds looking for a walleye. Headed towards the Shermans Launch site to visit some people and drill some holes.

Arr'd around 1130 and went looking for my friends who I thought were out on the ice. Headed out to the cluster (9 or 10) of shacks/ portable units and anglers standing on the ice. Talked to some gentlemen who reported that the perch were biting but no walleyes, neither were my friends.

Decided to strike out on my own rather than fish in the 25 foot depth they all were fishing at. Headed east trying to find the weed bed between the launch site and Perfect Vue. Drilled and fished. Moved eastward, drilled and fished, Joined by Ken and we moved again and drilled and fished.

Later Jerry came out to see how we we were doimg, Ken had one perch and I had six - No walleyes.....

Could see a group between Perfect Vue and the Old Church Launch ramp. guess that was Batman and Targa.

Headed back in around 1430 as it starting to get chilly, the feet were feeling the effects of standing on the ice - have to get some insulated pads for the boots.

After I left the weather cleared and it looked real pleasant out on the ice, but the morning had been brutal with the wind from the west, just like the summer.

Perhaps I'll get another chance to drill some holes before the end of Feb.

Superdad, Your right, that was us.

I decided to go out from the church to save me
a bit of driving. TARGA17 indicated he planned
to fish out from the Thompsons point access Sunday.
He wanted to check out the deeper water. He hope
to fish the 25-30 level along a 50 foot drop. He
was going to fish this area in the late afternoon
today. Maybe we will see a report tommorrow.

I think I'm going to try the Deseronto Bridge next
Saturday morning or evening.

Another point, Last year I fished a number of times
at Sherman's point. Early in the season the fish
were being caught closer to the opposite shore. About
3/4 of the way across to the point ( Name ??). Then
later in the season you only had to walk 100ft from
the ramp to get fish. At that point they were everywhere.

Good Luck, Maybe we will meet up one of these days.

Hey Superdad, we only fished a couple of hours from 6:30 to 8:30 this morning with only a couple of perch to show for it. On the drive back towards town saw quite a few people and huts in Long reach towards Deseronto. Was quite a beautiful morning, too bad I had to drive back so soon. I think next time I'll be armed with the battery powered heated socks and gloves ($25 each at Canadian Tire). After this past weekends minus 20c and below weather I think the investment will be worth it! Too bad they're sold out right now. I guess a lot of ice fishermen had the same idea. Anyways, for anyone worried about the ice thickness...we were drilling through 12 plus inches of ice. I was going to post some nice pics but couldn't figure out how to embed them in my posting. Anyways, was good to see you David and I'll let you know when my next trip up will be....hopefully we can hook up again.

Frozen but tight lines!

Ken
