After having a real tuff season with speratic catches I really got into them tonight.I had debated on even going out tonight buy myself.I caught 8 ranging in size from 8bls , 12oz down. The bite was fast and I couldn't seem to get back down there fast enough.I kept the 4 smallest ones with the biggest one I kept being a 6 pound male. For those who can't find minnows , I caught most fish on a jigging rapala with no meat.

TTFN

Oh yah I almost forgot , I wont make anyone PM me , I was out off George Street.

Congrats.....I love the jigging rapala....meat or no meat they are very effective. My only complaint is that I seem to lose a lot of fish when using them. Lately, I have been cutting off the back hook, upsizing the middle treble hook at least one size, and cutting the front hook just behind the barb I then add a size 10 treble to the remaining front hook and crimp it down toward the head. I've caught a lot of fish on this small treble over the past several years. I have alway felt that the back hook was useless, other than snagging on the edge of the ice when I have a good fish at the hole!!!

Hey Roy,

To be honest I have never had much faith in them other than running a dropper under them for perch.I was marking alot of fish but was not getting the hits I should have so I tied one on to try for a reaction bite and it worked very well.First time I sent it down it didn't even hit bottom and a big girl just smashed it.It was great.I will always have a rod with one tied on for when they are there but wont co-operate. Thanks for the modification ideas to.I'll try that out.
