every angler who reads this forum should take notice to this post from the king himself. for those of you who have gone home skunked don't be surprised, this year has been spotty for a good part of the season, and when hardwater goes on and posts something like this, it truly shows the bay has been slow at times. i'm glad rick that you said something like this because there are those out there who have posted that they are catching their limit every time out until they take someone out with them and all of a sudden they get skunked!!!! this board the way i read it is for bragging and begging, not for telling lies.you can bet your bottom you will never catch me telling a lie and for those of you who know rick, you can ask him. there are not any straiter shooters than me. anyhow good luck fishing. remember to keep your eyes glued to your vex!!!!!

Well said, and absolutely true. As Rick said and we believe, we weren't new to Quinte or fishing. We've all had days when fishing or hunting have been busts, but not for lack of trying. Last week, we worked our butts off, and because of the weather we were very limited in being mobile as we like to be to find the fish. We covered a lot of territory, and really only hit fish on one and a half days of our 5 and a half days of available fishing.

We didn't totally despair, though, because we knew that Rick was not only struggling with us, but working hard to figure out where the fish were and relying on all his experiences - which he freely shared - to put us on fish.

So, the guy that said they caught ALL those fish during the same week we were there, I find hard to believe. With four guys fishing 5 and a half days, we landed 44 fish. We had a fish fry three nights, and each of us took home (back to the States) four eaters each (except for the one guy w/ us and new to fishing Quinte who landed a double-digit trophy to be mounted). Everything else went back into the water, including several "eaters" that we just didn't need.

This being my second trip to Quinte, and my brother's third, we knew there was a chance that we'd have a tough year like we experienced. And, that is okay. We'll be back next year. Hopefully the fishing will be better, but if not, we still got the best walleye guy on the Bay to hang with for a week. Oh, and his protege' Brad ... who is a very good angler in his own right, and very willing to help out.

P.S. I'm trying to download some pictures, but I continue to struggle to figure out how to do it. I'll keep trying.

   people getting there limit everyday out there ????????????
heck they must be catching them in there sleep   fishing 7 days a week out there like i do,i may have caught my limit 5 times this year.
the eyes were not schooled up ,they came in little bunches of 3 or 5,plus the shad came in over a month late.
so i think between next to no stable wheather, and the shad being in the 1000s they did not group up like the norm rather just roamed around chasing bait.
only 1 sat i remember that the bay was alive with eyes, everybody caught fish,if i remember right it was feb 23rd but i could be wrong...ive been wrong before and im sure ill be wrong some more lol
all in all it was a good year but every day on the ice is a good 1
(just my 2 cents lol)
taker easy all
