Can anyone tell me what the slot sizes are now for quinte. I don't want any confusion in what I can keep. Thanks :?

Here is the wording from one of the original MNR memos regarding the slot.

" ... a maximum size limit of 19 inches for recreational fishing, and anglers will be allowed one trophy walleye over 25 inches. Anglers with sportfishing licences will have a limit of four walleye and the conservation limit of two fish will be maintained..."

As a general reminder to folks. When the MNR first introduced this reg they gave Anglers a warning if they were not in compliance. A grace period in effect. That period has now passed and from my understanding the Conversation Officiers will not accept ignorance as an excuse.

Good luck this weekend,
Dan

I brought up the question of slot sizes before and everyone's adhering to the regulations. I also noted that it was mentioned that people have been seen taking "illegal" fish. The regulations were put in for a reason and people should know that the regulations are laws for the betterment of the fishery. If a number of fishermen keep the breeders, then what will happen to the fishery? Note that in many parts of Canada including Ontario that lakes are closed to all icefishing due to overfishing. Could this be the next step if people are not responsible :?: Just my 2 cents worth...

It is imperative that we make a concious effort to keep this fishery alive. Just think of all the fun you/we have had catching these beautiful fish. I am postive you all know there aren't too many places in the world where you can consistently catch walleye above 6+ lbs. Wouldn't you want to share this one day with your children, grand children or maybe if you're lucky great grand children ! Let's think people.
We live so close to a world class fishery - let's keep it that way !!
