Folks,

I witnessed a measuring comedy show yesterday. They
were using a marked piece of dental floss to measure
their fish. Even after measuring with this floss (new I hope),
they still measured the fish wrong. I measured it for them.
It was 22 inches long and in the slot. They let it go.

Here is my idea of a great fool proof method of measurement.

Take your "Good" measuring tape and color over the entire
section between 19" and 25" with a good quality Red permanent
marker. Let it dry. Then take a Green permanent maker and
color the tape between zero and 19 inches. Then color the section
Green between 25 inches and 36 inches. Let dry. The numbering
on my tape is still very readable.

Now when you place this tape on the fish you know right away if
it's a keeper. If it's in the RED release it. :D

I don't recommend you use your best measuring tape, but I think
this idea would work well and it doesn't cost much.

For a dollar, you can get a 3 foot mini pocket measuring tape at the Giant Tiger in Napanee or even a full size one at any dollar store. The dollar could save you from having your equipment seized.

If you can visit an Ikea store, they give away free tape measures.

I was thinking of taping one to the edge of the sleigh to have a quick guide.
