I am so happy to be reading this forum and see familiar things......

I was in the Dominican (Puerto Plata) for a week. Great time during our slated stay and I was able to get in some shore fishing...didn't catch anything but hey, it was the tropics so I didn't care; then.

We were to be back on Thursday and finally made it on Sunday afternoon. 4 days or hanging around an air port, that was shut down for flights (rain and fog) but everyday, they continued to ship us out of a resort by 6:00 am and back again late at night.

The line up for water and food, for what there was, and water at $4 a bottle was 3+ hrs. No information given to any of us nor the basics. People were fighting (literally) for food, water and spaces to sit.

The ceilings were leaking badly, falling drywall became a safety concern, and no toilet paper....the lack of services was appaling and very unsafe.

Saturday, we had no where to go or rest in the resort they put us in and had to sleep on beach chairs in the pouring rain. All of our clothes were soaked by day 1 and by day 4, were ripe!

So, if you're booked for a trip to the Dominican over the next week or so, I'd highly suggest you make sure your travel agent has the correct information. And to be honest, I've lost all faith in the tour companies not helping us with the necessities nor having accurate information. Case in point, people found out TO airport would not accept flights from PP but still, they hearded us in like cattle. When they were told this, they're comment was "we haven't heard this yet!"

So please anyone going, make sure you have accurate information and check out on-line forums.

I'm so happy to see snow and get my ice-fishing gear back out!

Cheers,

Paul

Paul,

WOW!! That is crazy. I'm sorry to hear the end of the trip was that bad. I hope the days prior were good enough to offset the bad ones at the end, although from the sounds of it, not sure that is possible.

Makes one thankful for what we take for granted everyday in Canada.

Welcome Back!!

.....I am so happy to be Canadian!

I'm trying to find / remember the good in the trip. But here's one I'll share....

I was thankful for meeting a couple from Belleville of all places. We all stuck together which pretty much turned us into a family.

He has a hut on the bay so we're going to get together for some ice fishing.

Now that's Quinte-Canadian!!!

Cheers
