Laker John and I decided to brave the cold NE wind and give Hay Bay a try for some eyes. We met a Hay Bay veteran at the launch ramp who told us that the walleyes weren't in Hay Bay but they were at Huffs'... He had moved his shack up there instead of fishing for perch which he said were bigger than the walleyes in Hay Bay.

We had been advised of the situation.... We headed out and walked quite a distance towards the south shore looking for an upslope, but we didn't walk quite far enough and ended up in 25' to 30' of water.

We fished from 1230 ti 1700 and we each got four perch and Laker John landed one small walleye. We were using the Rapala jigging lure and it worked well for perch.

We had a long walk back to the launch ramp and on the way past a couple of fishers, we ran into Quinte Prince who was out trying his luck. He had a strike and missed, but the other fisher about 30 yds away had landed a nice walleye.

Back at the launch ramp, we chatted with QP and headed back to Kingston. One thing we learned was that we don't think we'll walk as far the next time... Tough walking, although sticking to snow machine tracks we were able not to overturn the sled with the fishing stuff.

It's gonna rain on Saturday, the fish will be biting for sure ;)

Stay Tuned.

Nice report Superdad,

With the warm weather coming, hopefully it will unlock the Walleye's jaws. Nice to hear you had some success. I am going to try and make it down this weekend if possible, didn't get to go on Monday as I thought I would, but hoping to make a couple (at least) of trips down before ice out.

Perch sure are healthy looking in your neck of the woods.
