i'm thinking of heading out to the bay this week and just wondering what lures and or colors we should try first i always seem to lean towards kastmasters in green and silver just wondering what other peoples choices are. Any suggestions would be great!! Hope everybody has a safe and happy weekend on the ice.

Like bluedog "ain't gospel but it works for me" is the Hopkins Smoothie in the green prism on one half and pearl prism on the other.

lol....how do you think we all ended up with a box or 2 or 3 boxes full of lures? Lost faith in the ones we had or figured something else would be better. Do you know how cheap it would be to fish if we could only come up with that 1 or 2 lures that were going to work?

While I was browsing around the dollar store here in town, I noticed they had some lures. I bought a few to try out.
The first Walleye I caught this year was on 1 of these, looks like a small red mr. champs. I have many of the expensive lures, but thought I would try these out.
Last w/e on Jacks lake the only 3 fish caught were by 2 of my buddies, using my dollar store lures.
Just goes to prove that if the fish are hungry, they don't care how much a lure cost.

My lure box is pretty simple, a little box about 3" x 2" that holds 4 , red and silver small champs with bigger trebles put on to replace the stock ones. I rarely get skunked for fish and I know exactly how the lure works so can optimize presentation. When it comes right down to it....the lure attracts the fish but they bite the minnow so I really do not think colour has a lot to do with it. I think it is about the good flash the right action for the current and depth and being able to control that action is what determines success...having the odd fish hanging in the area helps too I am sure.
