The Kingston Canadian Tire store (across from Cataraqui Mall) received their tickets for the tournament today as well as the hats. The hats that are given with the ticket you buy are green this year. We are supposed to get some rain over the next week so hopefully it will wash away all this snow.

Good luck to everyone at the tournament

Why are the Kiwanis tickets $25 each? They go up in price every year. I actually think I will pass on a derby ticket this year as I think they are out to get rich.

Shawn,
There is a hat included in the price of your ticket and in case you weren't aware, no one gets rich on running these tournaments. It's a challenge just to keep ticket prices reasonable and avoid losing money. One reason the NDRGC are not running their walleye tournament this year is because they've lost money the last two. If you want to go fish just for fun, that's great too.
Tight lines.

Shawn all the money raised after expenses goes back in the community. So no one is getting rich off your $25.00 entry fee.

I know the money goes back into the community, but the cost has gone up every year! Will it be #30 next year? I've never been a fan of the hats as they are goofy looking but I still have every one from the last 10 years. I'm not trying to be negative, but I think that if they eliminate the hats and try to keep the prices down a little they would sell way more tickets. Am I the only one who is having a hard time with the price of a ticket?

Looks to be. Have you checked out the price of any other tournament? Most are $100 plus per person and far less prizes. The amount of effort that goes into an event like this is phenomenal and ALL of the people involved are volunteers; ie. NO COMPENSATION. No one's twisting your arm to enter, and like Paulie says you can always just fish for the fun of it. The money goes to help send kids with cancer to camp and other worthy causes. I'm buying four tickets and whether or not I win anything is not even a consideration. It's an opportunity to fish with family and friends and enjoy the company of people who also enjoy this great past time.

P.S.
Superdad, I'll be following you

I see all your points. I guess I shouldn't be such a cheap SOB. I guess I have a hard time when everything seems to go up in price except my paycheck!
See you all on the water for the opener.
