While I applaud your resolve in your quest to protect our fisheries, I take offence at your latest statement

Quote:

When you decide to include race in your statements all you serve to do is to create the appearance that your efforts are racially motivated and thus reducing your credibility. I'm sure they're not but I'm sure this statement could easily have been worded "Saw some people fishing today...". You get the picture. In any case, anytime I read the press releases about poachers or people breaking the laws with regards to our natural resources they are from varied backgrounds, so to single out any particular race would paint you as a racist. I'm sure your statement was made in a heat of the moment fit of rage, as it did raise my ire as well (with regards to the waste of life) but perhaps you could leave race out of it as a poacher is still a poacher no matter what race he/she is.

Sorry Ken & Jo...& any others that this may have offended. It was definitely written in you might say..."a fit of rage". I apologize deeply & will change text to justify this. I am "definitely not" a racist. Although, they were Chinese.

I've been reading this argument fo a while now. The argument of race has no place here. Why does this take presidence over the fact that someone slaughtered these fish!? It is a known fact that the chinese use the fish for medisinal purposes and they were seen in the area. So by the evidence and facts I would believe they would be suspect, not because of there race but because of the facts above. So please don't anyone cry racism. It has noithing to do with it! There is no need for an apology.

The big picture still remains and put a stop to it. The next time I see anyone with a ale of fish prior to season opener they will be on rocks, If the Ministry won't enforce it they there are a large group of us who will. I own a restaurant and am constantly having certain people soliciting me to purchase their"stolen" fish. Ihave reported this to the MNR and they treated me like a criminal having me show proof of all purchase and taking my frozen, clearly labeled, sealed boxes of fish for testing. Now you tell me is this right? So if they continually turn their back, running from the political backlash then, those of us who care for the area will run the unwanted out of "Dodge".

Sorry about the rant but I have had enough!

Nobody's crying racism here, I'm just saying that theres no need to paint a certain race with the same brush as a select few that are breaking the laws. Like I said, a poacher is a poacher no matter what their race is. When I read the news flashes about people exceeding their limits or fishing with no licenses etc., I sure see a lot of non-Asian names in the list of offenders just as there are Asian names. If you're interested in reading about people being charged by the MNR here's the link.

As far as "running the unwanted out of Dodge", sure sounds like playing Cowboys and Indians. Pardon the smarta** comment but couldn't resist.

The Dodge comment was not meant that way. Just a simple quote.

Stop the B.S.!! If I saw Natives there and I said "Indians", does that mean I think all "Indians" are poachers or that I am degrading natives...NO! Same for Asians, Europeans, whatever. It's this political correctness B.S. that has the politicians and C.O.'s affraid of confrontation because the bleeding harts may not vote them in again, or may cut there already frugal budget. If your interested in the main issue here, use your efforts to mail or contact legislators or law officials. I'm sure we can all be civil and understanding and leave the political correctness to the ones that have those said positions.

Hey Nutty,
I'm not defending you or supporting you - I'm just being honest and open about the issues at hand. Matter of fact, if you are reading what Super has posted, he too is quite right. Also, he has been one of the biggest contributors to this site, one of the reasons your here! I agree the proper approach should be taken when dealing with these issues. Remember, there are strengths in numbers, so try not to alienate the people that are, for the most part, on your side.
Regards.
