I was wondering if I could get some advice on locations of local lodgings, boat rental in the vicinity of some fishing hot spots. I know this is a lot to ask but I'm on short notice and I need to put together something for about 15 guys. We normally fish the May long weekend in Northern ontario but this year I think the lake that we've mad reservation at will still be frozen in 2 and 1/2 weeks. Most of the guys are from the north which is why we will need the boat rentals. I have been following this board for a while and I know some of the areas where you have mentioned good fishing, the problem I'm having is to tie those fishing spots with a decent motel and a boat rental business. any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Brian

I just recieved an Email from a fellow in Thunder Bay, He tells me that they still 2.5 to 3 feet of ice on the local lakes. I know that the lodge owner where we had booked was driving to the lodge last week, about 2 miles down the lake. I'm not really hopefull that the ice will be gone by the long weekend so locations requested in the original post would be a big help.

Thanks

Brian

This being the opening weekend down here it may be hard to find a spot but you might try Merland Park, Fisherman`s Motel and Tip of the Bay, all of these are in Picton Ontario and I know Merland has boats but not sure of the others. All are within walking distance of food and whatever.Picton is a close to all good fishing spots just look for boats especially around the points and tops of islands.I live here and fish the bay every week almost year round weather permitting.Good luck.

Hey Dennis,

Thanks for the information. The opener is this weekend, the 3rd and 4th or is it the 10 and 11th? I thought the Southern opener was only 1 week ahead of the Northern date of the 3rd Saturday in May.

Brian,
The opener is this weekend. Every year same time "first Satuday in MAy".
That said there are numerous operators listed here with the facilities you are looking for. Hopefully its not too late to get something set up. Good Luck!!

Brian, last week I spoke to the good people at Perfectview Resort. They
had a massive cabin still available at a reasonable price, and boats
to rent. Just follow the links on the front page of this site. Good luck
and tight lines.

hey guys thanks for the input. I have been in touch with the lodges that you have mentioned and we'll see what happens.

Good luck on the water and keep dry.
