Hello All,

I hope your hardwater season went well. We are preparing our annual Spring exodus to BOQ. Unfortunately, we're going to miss the opener by four days... and will get started on opening Wednesday.

I am reflecting on last year's opening strategy for this year. To make it short and sweet, last year we were shut down completely. It seemed all the 'eyes were tight-lipped and in shallow water back by Pickeral Park... taking some cranks and turning their nose on crawler harnesses. That may have been all fine-and-dandy to those fishing there, but we happened to at Sherman's and Thompson's looking for takers hehehe.

Anyhow, could someone give me an idea of the surface temps in and around Hay Bay? TY to Superdad for providing those Hay Bay reports... I believe it was the one from around 12-Apr-03 that stated ice still existed on Hay Bay. That was indeed a near coronary for me!

Back to temps ---> Last year I believe the surface temps we were reading were in the HIGH 40F's and it was not until a week or so later until the temps broke barely above 50F. In light of the recent ice... did the temps break above 40F yet?

I'll post our results when we return.

Good luck to all on your opener!

Yes, thanks to all who have been posting information as we edge closer to the opener this weekend. I'd love to see some temps posted in the next day or so. Would be a big help to me in choosing my starting location.
Cheers,

Hey guys could you answer a basic question, for you not for me, what is the magic temp that you are looking for. and if the water temp is not where you want it how willl you adjust yuor strategy? I know this may be getting close to giving up those valued secrets, but some feedback would be great.

Brian
