Maximum wind dir/speed for Quinte

Hi all,

I'm thinking about giving the bay another shot this fall but am hesitant about driving three hours and getting blown off the lake. What would you say are the best/worst wind directions and max wind speed to safely fish the reach. I'm guessing that NE and SW are the worst? Any help is greately appreciated. Thanks

I guess it depends on the individual and what your tolerance is. For me it's all good, I haven't been blown of the water yet this year but some of the people that have been out with me needed a barf bag :roll:

You'll always be able to find some cover in the bay, you just may have to drive threw some chop to get there.

much of what you can handle depends on air temps.

you dont want to get into much of a chop if the air temp is less than -8.

if you do, the water spray freezes to your hull (up front) and makes your boat very front heavy.

also, reels will get wet from the freeze while going into the chop, which will keep them from working.

i'll go into some hefty waves if the weather is less than -4, but any colder, and i'll wait it out on shore.

as a rule i find anything out of the south or down from the north tollerable. the real killer is a west or an east wind..... then you have to go up long reach to find a lea........ if there is a brite side. when its nasty, you catch fish look back thru the posts seems when the water has alot of chop they fill the boat with fish. thouse nice calm enjoyable days are less productive as a rule as pbotting said. often you can surch out a lea

thanks for the reply's guys. I don't mind being a little uncomfortable, the problem is trying to talk some of my candy ass friends into making the drive with me and putting them off ever coming again if it's too rough. I should have added that I have a 17' Sylvan DC Profish.
