Gday Folks.....
My name is Jim and i have finally logged in to the quinte fishing site to post some of my experiences, photos, comments, & tips, etc.
I don't do the computer thing very much but i've enjoyed following this forum for a couple yrs now, learned allot about walleyeing, and would like to say hello & thanks for some of the info shared amongst the members.
Walleye fishing to me is something i'm not a huge fan of..... trolling is nowhere near as fun as casting at pads, docks, trees, and slop. etc.
And i prefer fish that hit hard and fight even harder. But having said that i also like to target Big Fish and thats the reason i go to Qwinte.....Its definatly a world class fishery.

Superdad/ Laker John....never met you before....but, feel like i know you allready. (actually i met you first thing Monday morning when you pulled into Pic Bay and i gave you the finger.........(signifying 1 fish in the boat)

Jeff C..... I believe i met you at the ferry launch last month when you got ugly at me cuz they let me off the ferry first. ( No hard feelings dude and carfull hoo you say what to.) good icy picks on the 16th

G2 Boyz..... Good to meet you at Bass Pro last weekend and thanks for the generous offer.....I will take you up on that for sure. Good job with your seminar that i watched.....to bad it was so Northlandish. :)

Big Swede.... I was the fella just cruzin by you when you woke up to land that fish. good job. (exciting sport eh?)

Sheldon... See Ya at the show.

Maverick... I woulda gave you a run for the g2 big fish if i measured it.

The Duke.... No Secrets are safe.

Fitchin team.... If that was youz guyz driving the boat with 4 guyz in it Monday mornin...all standing up most of the day...with a fly guy named Nick on board...... I'm the fella who was wearing the Shimano Rain Suit who you witnessed landing that monster just as you were goin by. It was the first Prickrel i think i've ever caught that actually fought..... And it was easily my Personal Best. Somewhere close to 16 -17 pds. (my old scale was pooched and i didn't get an acurate reading...but the fish we had to keep which we caught earlier that was leaking tranny fluid all over the the place weighed in at 14lbs 12 oz. when we got home. and this monster was visably qwite a bit bigger.)
My buddy Robbie also got his biggest ever that day.... the 14'r.
So far...after 4 or 5 yrs goin down trolling....(15 + trips)...that was our best day ever.
Landed 4 and 3 were fatties.
Not very good by most peoples standards....but, we are new.... and I like the challange of trying to figure it out for myself.
and I still have lots to learn. (alltho what i read on here makes it easier.)

Kwick Kwestion.... Was that Kev Lavers in the big Tracker that morning ?

Steve H...apparently you were gonna com up to my huntcamp speil with Aaron S. during the fall...you should of...fishing was spectacular.

Now for some Ice Fishing.....
Hey FishingDude.... ice fishn is coming to RICE LK.... and being an avid ice angler and someone who lives near & knows Rice very well... Let me tell ya.... You wanna catch some fishes...i'll put you on them.
This year i have started a new business. Its called RICE LK. HUT RENTALS. I will be located just out front of Bewdley and i will be out finding fish for the first few days before i rent out a hut that is just randomly located out in the middle of nowhere. BTW...Those hutz next to the launch belong to Benny at B.J. tackle.

I am sponsored by the fine folks at Shimano, Blue Fox, Gamakatsu, Luhr Jensen, Storm, Sufix, Phenix Tackle, Trigger X, Rapala, Strigease Tackle, Terminator, The Cheese Shop, EJD Welding, and the folks at Bass Pro Shops, Minn Kota, Bewdley Pizza, and Lowrance have also helped us out a fair bit over the years. (THANKS TO ALL)

My Hutz are being custom built in my back yard right now. No 2 are the same... They are large, new, comfortable and different. When they are finally located on the lake you will notice them from miles away as they are wrapped in huge banners from some of the great sponsors who are helping me to get them together.
I am using advertising boards from past fishing shows to cover the insides and give you something to read if the fishin is slow. Large photo's of Gord Pyzer, Big Jim, and Mercer are stapled to the doors to give you a laff, offer encouragement, & photo ops. etc.
The folks at Normark are helping me to equip all the huts with new products, line, & tackle etc. for my clients to try. And i will equip the hutz with games, cards, catalouges , magazines and other cool stuff to do if you don't feel like fishin...or if the kids are bored. Bait, underwater cameras, fish finders, rods and reels, portable radios etc will also be available to use depending on the pkg you purchase. & Alltho many details still need to be finalized....i'll try make your day comfortable and memorable.
I will be delivering fresh hot pizza for lunch for the folks who request it. Which i can assure you will probly be the best pizza you've ever had.
On Ice Transportation will be provided.
Portable hutz will be put into action if any one would like to go on a guided trip to some of the hot spots elsewhere on the lake.
And i'm also offering guided trips up north to the Minden and Bancroft areas for folks who would like to check out some excellent Rainbow, Lake Trout, Whitefish, Pike, Brookie and even some "Ling" action which is where i've been hiding for the last 20 yrs.

Limited hut space is available due to the fact that i have only a few huts built so far... and rates will start at approx $30 bucks a head for a basic hut pkg till i get everything up and running. Web site, pricing and hut pkgs will be posted hopefully by the new year as things are qwite busy at the moment.

Plans for building a few ICE BUNGALOWS next, that will fit 2, 3 and 4 men comfortably, are underway and should be ready in the near future also.

Anyone who would like to join me on opening day to try locate a few clusters of fish (preferably CRAPPIES) to put my hutz on will recieve a small goodie bag of some sorts and a large discount on their first hut rental.

For more details give me a shout at RICE LK. HUT RENTALS 905 797 2132
and remember.....
KEEP YOUR POLE IN THE HOLE !

Thanks and good luck to all this winter.

Jim.

Jim

Welcome to the board and best of luck with your ice fishing enterprise.

I know casting and feeling the strike is a great thrill, the trolling with the boards is an acquired taste, but the scream of the reel is always a thrill.

Cheers

David aka Superdad

Sorry Steve and Jeff.
Thought it was you guys.....
......But i'm pretty certain it was you Superdad..... good to hear you got into a few that day.
Ya the trolling thing is sorta different for me. Used to do a lot as a young lad, up north, for pike..... but now, Staring at those boards can be tricky, especially in the waves, when your not used to them, and not gettin bit.
Sometimes I just felt like stopping and throwin a few casts, but i've been leaving those rods at home to help me to try figure out the trolling patterns better.....& its been a slow process.
So far this fall... in 8 - 9 trips.... we've got less than a dozen...
Yup, still lots to learn.

Good job to all who seemed to be hauling them in the boats around us this fall......
I found that Its not as easy as it looks...and its good to see at least someone is catching the fish.

Hey Jim,

It was a pleasure meeting you at the BPS show, glad you also watched our seminar.

I think you will do well, as long as you get on that great Crappie fishery you'll been fine!! If you're intersted in swapping Crappie trips for Monster Walleye trips, give us a shout...

Cheers. Hodgey...
