Went out with a couple buddys last night to fish a local mudcat hole. I got there at around 730pm and the other guys had been there since 7pm, had caught a silver bass before I showed up. I got my first cat within 5 minutes on a smaller circle hook tipped with crawler and had 3/4 oz of split shots 2 feet from my set up. The other guys were running similiar rig but had a float on. Few more silver bass then one of the other guys hooked into something a little bigger, LM bass around 2 lbs quickly brought it in and let it go to do it's thing. The wave of fish we saw come in just around sun down got me really excited as I could see it was mudcat becoming more active........ I ended up catching 5 good size mudcat for my 2 hours of work, the other guys both had 3 each by the time I was leaving, and they decided to stay and try for a few more. There was prolly 4 LM that hit our rigs, all looked so healthy and returned to the water ASAP. The bite was best at sundown and died down about an hour after, but the odd one would hit after that but seemed to be just playing with our rigs not committing like before. All in all it was good to just get out there and enjoy a wonderful night with some great company.
