I have never been down to the bay for opener. Usually just head down for the long weekend and do some fishing there and another local lake.

So, my question is, how busy is it on opening day??

I will be heading down for a family birthday so I figure I might as well fish Saturday morning. I will only be fishing the hay bay area but I'm sort of scared at the amount of boats that may be out there due to the tourney and it being the opener.

It was so busy last year that when Mux, Mac, Snarfy and DeProp were fishing in the river, Mac had to have a dump, but we were catching fish like crazy. He bitched and moaned that he had to go but we wouldn't leave. We told him to walk. He did. He walked over boats from the middle of the river all the way to the dump station at the launch ramp, did his thing and then walked back.

So yeah, it's pretty busy on Opening Day.

It is usually busy but if the weather does not cooperate it sometimes keeps the
numbers down but the other wild card is the water levels and how hard
it will be to launch a boat. It is still down over 2 feet from its usual level at this
time of year. Will be using my 12 foot Lund rather than the 20 foot pontoon boat

It's not nearly as busy as it used to be. When there were three derbys on the same weekend, it wasn't a big deal if there 300-400 boats in Hay Bay / Ram Island / Shermans Pt.

It depends where you fish for the number of boats.

Cheers

Oh boy 8O . Figured I would take a couple guys that don't fish much. This should be an experience for all 3 of us. I know I could always hit up the family cottage lake and slay the crappie but think I will stick with the eyes unless the weather is bad.

Thanks for all the replies....I guess, lol.
