Do you switch out the hooks on your deep diving husky jerks?

I change out the hooks on every crank bait I own. The hooks are always way too small out of the box. a nice red one in the middle works great. Just my opinion.

I don't change them all, but I do change them if I feel they need it.

Can't beat Mustad triple grips.

Darrin when changing your hooks on your crankbaits or husky jerks make sure you go to the excet same size thats no the bait or you will change the baits action, which saying sometimes its not a bad thing but they may not run true after doing so.

Thanks for the tips....I was looking at the hooks on a lure given to me by a fairly successful lake walleye fisherman and noticed that they didnt appear to be the standard hooks....may change a couple on the husky jerk and see how they affect the action.

Sheldon, what size do you use ?

Sommerdink is Right that on some lures it will change the action some but it really helps my hook up percentage. As far as size goes you have to play with the lure to see which hook will work better with it. Go down to the shore and make a few casts to see how it performs. I have actualy downsized on a few lures. eg. CC shad will still run well if you go 1-2 sizes up. but you may have to adjust your speed. larger crank baits(length) seems to effect the action a little more than the shorter ones. go out and pick up a number of different size hooks. Take em down to the shore and play with them. Good luck.

i switch the hooks out on ALL my crankbaits.

Owner ST41 hooks on all baits until Walleye, then Mustad Trip Grips go on. Once walleye is done, owner ST41's go back on.
