When running back to weigh in yesterday, Jeff C and I noticed an aluminum boat drifting down the bay with no one in it. There were 3 rods, tackle box, life jackets etc. in the boat. After looking around for someone that fell out and running up the drift path for a mile or so to see if someone was in the water we concluded it probably drifted off a dock because the motor was tipped up. Anyway, we called the OPP and made an incident report and handed the boat over to the Tyendinaga fire department.

If this is your boat or you heard of someone that lost a boat, call the Tyendinaga Fire Department. They have it.

Hey Scott / Jeff,

You guys deserve to be recognized for going above and beyond...seriously.

Not only did you guys really care about a potential drowning or accident or who know's what, but you also took time away from a big tournament.... That takes a ton of guts!!

Let's hope it was only a drifting boat....Job well done guys..

Cheers, Hodgey...

Well Hodgey I'll be honest, a 0 lb bag made the decision easier.

We had been on big fish and knew it was a 0 or hero spot. We had decided to stick that spot out all day even if we weren't moving a rod as we only needed 1 or 2 fish to have a big bag. It was an all or nothing decision that didn't pan out. With fishing as slow as it was and only 11 teams over 10 lbs I think it was the right decision just wasn't our day. Still had a ton of fun.

Thanks again for the compliment, but I know you would have done the same thing as you guys proved with helping a guy out on the ice, and I'm sure most of the guys in the field would have stopped too. Not really a hard decision to make, really a wierd feeling to see an empty boat drifting down the bay. Assumed for the worst at first then as we looked around started to realize maybe it just drifted off a dock. Didn't really know what to do with it. Jeff has a buddy that is an OPP officer and he called him and they contacted the Marine unit.

I just hope however, lost it gets it back. I'd be pretty bummed to know I was missing rods, tackle, and a boat. Thats a bad day, worse then blanking a tournament.

Good work men, we all need to be reminded at times that its just fishing and to help each other out.

Nice job guys to make the extra effort.

Had something similar happen on West lake one time. I saw a boat without anyone in it that was floating along by the dunes and proceeded to go over to it to see what was going on. I get a little closer and it didn't take long to realize the owners were doing just fine. The couple laying in the bottom of the boat didn't appreciate me ruining there romantic naked boat ride though. I don't know that they were having a boat ride but there was definately some riding going on.
