That's too bad, he was one of the best in the area. Always very helpful with tips and setting you up. I hope that he can start it up again in another area where business treats him better. Skevy your store will be missed, and I hope that you at least get into guiding or something cause you do the sport a lot of good.

Skevy your store will be missed..... big time.
But it has to be extremely difficult to compete with box stores like walmart, canadian tire, bass pro shops, etc. Even though some are farther away with on-line shopping its made the smaller shops even tougher to make a go out of it.

Definatly a sad state of affairs. for sure. we can blame the economy, but we also have to take a little blame Ron gave it a good try. held on as long as he could im sure. probably longer than he should have at the end of the day working 40 hour weeks to go deeper in debt just dont cut it! . and then we complain about 5 dollar a dozen minnows . lures 2 bucks higher than you can get at wal mart .......... good luck Ron grizz

Yes it is too bad, I have yet walked into Can. Tire or WalMart and have the staff offer me the use of a Vex, an Auger or anything else that the fisherman of the day needed because he wanted to try one or left it at home. I have seen him close shop to take someone out on to the Bay then return to the store, I seen him many times fix a rod or reel on the spot no charge. I have a feeling that Mr. Box Store will not be doing that too soon. We want local advice local service and a bit of a buddy in the search of Walleye, Bass, Drum, Perch and Trout or what have you. Blame the store, blame the market and the times yet take time to blame ourselves as well.
