Members,

The Belleville Police Service will hold its third annual Police Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday June 26th, 2010 at Victoria Park, from 09:00 to 1:00pm. We encourage all members of this "Beg N Brag" discussion board to get involved in this great event by having your child; grandkids participate in the derby or to volunteer at the derby. I am also looking for any donations for the derby. There will be prizes and a free lunch for the youth participating in the derby. Along with our most accurate cast and longest cast competition we were thinking about having some fly fisherman doing a demo for the kids (parents).

If you can help out or need more info please contact me,

Patrick Comeau

The Belleville Police Service kids Fishing Derby will have some new added events for this year;

1. Fly Fishing Demo at 09:00 to 10:00 & 11:00 to 12:00

2. Large live-well at the derby head table area so local youths can see several different species of fish. We need volunteers to go out fishing early that morning to catch some fish to put in the live-well any volunteers out there?????
Other events will include; (by age groups 0-6 years 7-12 years)

Longest cast

Most accurate cast

Largest fish (it’s really longest fish)

Smallest fish

Most unusual thing caught

The derby is getting closer so if you want in to help out please send me a message……

The Derby went very well despite the in climate weather towards the end. We had 213 youth at our event. We borrowed the live well from the Quinte Series so that the kids could view some large fish while they signed up or waited inline for lunch.

Personal thanks to several members of this board who helped out by going fishing for the live well at o’ dark hundred (05:30am) so that the kids could see fish, also voluntering at the Derby by assisting with gear, worms, helping kids fishing, and with the longest cast and most accurate cast competitions, getting prizes etc……..

Thanks to…….

Sheldon, Matt, Jeff, Ron, Robin, Hermen, Grizzly, Dicky, Chris & Donna

The kids loved it…..nothing is better then watching a kid catch their first fish.

Thanks to all...

Patrick Comeau

Hi Pat,
You thanked a few of us for helping however the big Thanks goes to you and the Belleville Police Department for organizing this event. They did a lot of work getting things organized, live well, hot dogs, setting up tents, kids long cast, accurate cast, gifts and prizes for all the kids, including getting sponsors which had to be worked on months in advance. The real Thanks goes to you and your friends at the Belleville Police Department. It was great seeing the smiles on all the kids faces.
Well done.

Sheldon
