I used an old tripod from a cheap laser level I had. I drilled a hole in the center, fed the cable through it and use the clamp that the level is suppose to sit in to tighten up on the cable. I put 2 pieces of wood on each side of the cable so I wont damage the cable when I tighten on the clamp. It works awesome because when the camera finds its position and stops spinning, I rotate the base to aim it at my lure. Once I get it to where I want it, it never moves again! My camera is the old fish tv model. Because the plug is large, I ended up cutting the cable, fed it through the hole and soldered the wires back together. Cut the cable about a foot down from the plug, that way the re connection point is not in the water. Hope this helps you out. I will try and post a pic of my rig later to give you a better idea of how I did it.
