Perform Mouth-to-Mouth Resuscitation.
Training Guide, Bay of Quinte Anglers Association
Posted Tuesday, October 25, 2005

TASK: Perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

TEST CONDITIONS: Minnow(s) appear unconscious and do not appear to be breathing (ie. belly-up in a bag). Ensure the candidates have not been exposed to a chemical environment.

TEST STANDARDS: Perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation following the correct sequence. Continue giving breaths at the rate of about 10-12/minute until the minnow starts to breathe on its own, until a qualified person relieves you, until you become too tired to continue, the smell becomes nauseating or the minnow simply explodes

SOLDIER'S MANUAL CROSSWALK: Task number 081-831-1042 in STP-21-1-SMCT, October 1994, and FM 21-11.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR POINT: Resuscitation training minnow (DVC. 08-15), alcohol, swabs or cotton balls, field table, clipboard, pen, chlorine disinfectant, and FB Form 20-5.1-R.

SITE SETUP: Place the minnow fin-down on a poncho and place alcohol and cotton balls on the field table.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES: Say to the candidates--

"Let me have your attention. At this point you must perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, following the correct sequence.

"Continue giving breaths at the rate of about ten to twelve each minute until the minnow starts to breathe on its own, until you are relieved by qualified person, become nauseated or the minnow simply expodes.

"The minnow is unconscious. You will perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation with this minnow.

"When I give the command, 'BEGIN,' start the task. Continue until I tell you to stop. Do you understand what you must do?"

If anyone has questions, repeat the instructions but do not elaborate on what you have read.

Pause five seconds and then say--

"BEGIN."

Allow the candidate to proceed until you are satisfied that he has performed the task correctly and then say--

“STOP.”

If the above does not work, dead minnows catch fish, too.

lets not forget one of the 101 uses of mux urine is pickeled minnows for spring time steelhead fishing.. if bought by the gallon ,can also cure a 10 pound walleye, when dried properly you can nail it to the wall. and enjoy the fish for years to come.
