Well here goes, bought a boat with a 3.8 litre chev engine in it last November. Decided to pull the motor and drive to refresh everything and low and behold the block is cracked in several places. So now I'm looking to buy a block or complete motor at a reasonable price of course to replace the new anchor I'm now in possesion of. Any leads or useful info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

BigGene

will a normal 3.8 block work? for instance out of a car? or does it need to be marine?

OK, Have found out that a automotive block or motor will do, but it has to be a Chev block rated at 229 CI not a Buick block. So anyone with a old clunker kicking around they want to part with, let me know. Checking out wrecking yards today to see what I can find.

Hello Gene,

I don't know much about engine, what I have is a rebuild 350 chev with less than one hour on it. If will do let me know.

I got a 2002 3.4L in a Pontiac Montana if they are the same bolt pattern. The van was on the wrong side of up and heading to the wreckers soon but the motor is good. Not sure about the EFI part for a boat. I'm up on Sullivans hill just north of Frankford if interested. 613 398-1788
