Quinte Fishing

I have an old lemur or leopard hide from a deceased uncle that spent his career in S. America. It appears in decent shape but I am curious if there is something I should be putting on the tanned part, as it seems mildly stiff, which I imagine is oxidation given its age (roughly 1960's and yes it still looks decent). I am hopeful someone might be able to shed some light on this. Thanks for taking a peek.

I've heard that neet's foot oil works to help soften and preserve hides.

I wouldnt use anything being that old you have no idea what process they used to do the tanning........... its stiff from just sitting around, if you want it to come back you and gently pull and streatch the hide but why even risk it, just hang it on the wall or something thats what it was intended for......... as long as the hair is solid in the skin thats all that really matters when it comes to a hide........ you could do what they do in a tannery thats tumbel it in a dryer with a sneaker or something. NO HEAT. I STRESS NO HEAT!!!! .......... that will soften it up but like i said why do anything, just hang it and enjoy it! . you could risk hair slippage that would be a disaster giving the pelt bald spots!!!! .
