Well, out I went again this morning. Wind was wrong for my 'dog kennel' so I went to the property I shot one and missed one 2 weeks ago. What the heck, can't sleep in anyways. So I head out to the pasture and the cows are out there now so I cross the drainage ditch and post up a little up the fence line, set the decoy out about 50yds to my right, the caller about 20yds to my right and I wait for the sky to lighten up.

All the snow is gone so its real hard to see. I must have seen about 20 stump dogs out there , you ever get that, everything looks like its your quarry... Anyways, it finally brightens up and I can see the field clearly, as I am reaching to turn the e-caller on I pick up some movement to my right. Holy crap, 2 yotes right at the decoy. They must have come out of the barn or the the farmers junk pile cause they sure didn't come out of the field .

They know something is up and start trotting away right in front of me First dog in my sights and with a little 'woof' she drops in her tracks The other takes off a running. At about 75yds across the drainage, he stops and looks back. Big mistake, down he goes .

I sat for a little longer and called a bit but nothing else came out, so off I went to get the deer slayers first one was easy, pretty much right at my feet

second one was a bit of a chore, across the corn field I go again 200yds in and 200yds back out across mucky gucky goo and I got my second yote for the day

They grow em big around here, the male tipped the scales a little over 50lbs

Hopefully the wind is right tomorrow, will try out the 'dog kennel'

Nicely done and great pics. I think I'm going to have to get a decoy now.

Its a Savage .223, nice and flat shooting, absolutely no recoil, my 11yr old sone loves shooting it. Got the heavy barrel which makes it real steady but a pain in the arse to carry around...

Thanks for the comments guys, further inspection, they were coy-dogs, they got dew claws. thats why they were so big...

Very nice shooting. :) .......... So if a Coyote has dew claws they have dog in them. A true strain of Coyote has no dew claws.
