Is anyone familiar with Little Lake in Brighton? I was wondering if you are aloud to bird hunt the lake. I called the MNR and they said there are no restrictions on thier end and told me to call the by-law officer. I can't get a hold of the by-law officer. I've never seen or heard anyone hunt this lake, but the number of ducks and geese that come and go from that lake are crazy. The lake is big enough so that when shooting you won't hit cottages on the other side. So is there anything stopping me?

I know there is a lot of houses and cottages pretty much around the whole thing right along the shore. Just take a fly-over on google map. I'm not sure, other than the beach, if there is anywhere you could go where there's not a house, unless you know someone or like Grizz said, get permission.

I always thought there was a 200 meter distance from a house rule? But if there is an open back bay, season opens Feb. 25th - Mar. 3rd in Brighton Township.

Little Lake is actually in Cramahe township which does allow sunday hunting so no Feb goose season. Cramahe also has a 300 metre restriction from a residentially zoned property. I suppose you could try to hunt from the middle of the lake but even that would be iffy, the police would likely be called and they would likely let the court decide. Not to mention that there would be another pile of people that hate hunters.

And so it is. Good idea. Go goose hunting...Bad idea. Go goose hunting where not allowed...

I'm still looking around for a good place to go for the upcoming season as well. I figure with this weather, there will be open water everywhere by then anyway so I'm not too worried.
