I ended up giving a fresh buck hide to a local taxidermist who sent it away to Montreal (?) for tanning. Big difference between hair-on and hair-off tanning by the way, Remember to ask.
For the $110 it cost me, I wasn't very impressed; uneven thickness, full of tear holes, grainy finish. You can buy a fully tanned deer hide at any local leather craft store for way less, although, I don't think they have coyote.
Also you can buy home tanning kits at trappers warehouse.
