I decided to lay off turkey hunting for almost 2 weeks to give things a chance to settle down in the woods and i haven't seen many birds on my travels scouting around the pass little while i thought the tom i seen 5 days after my first bird i shot was already taken by another hunter til today i took the long way home on my lunch hour and using most of my time up i thought i seen a tom standing in the bottom part of the field so on the way home for the night i left early from work and check it out again the bird had disappeared from that field and was 2 fields over all fanned out with 2 hens so i rushed home jumped in the truck and way i went for another evening hunt shorts tee shirt and shoes what a change from the last time i was out the mosquitoes were out by the thousands so i quickly set up the tent at 4.45pm and got the hen decoy out and got ready thank god for the ThermaCell or i would have been eaten alive.I got on the box call and and began calling every time i called he shock gobbled 3 or 4 times i switch to the glass call and then the Primos Spring hen call gave it a rest for 5 minutes then started calling again and he did the same thing but he was getting closer by the minute . Then at the field edge there he was all hot and ready for the hen he was hearing i call softly he started gobbling his head off but was angling away from the decoy the smart old bird he was out front of me now about 55 yards so i eased up took aim and dropped him in his tracks at 5.20pm that is the farthest i have shot a turkey.Only being out 2 morning and 2 evenings in which the birds were shot in the evening hunts i had a great time with these wonderful birds can't wait til next Spring now!The tom weighed 21.45lbs 1 1/8th inch spurs and just over 9 inch beard.

Wee Shawn. I guess our meeting earlier in the day got you all pumped up, and you decided to go
get your second turkey. What a way to finish the season. Magnificant bird bud. Nice going Donn
