I am told there has been an issue with a hunting/PAL course instructor in the Trenton area and they are rejecting any licenses and PAL's issued by him for the last 5 years. Belleville Canadian tire is screening the PALS and rejecting them when you buy a gun. If you have one issued by him you have to re-write the tests elsewhere (free of charge). I don't know much about it yet but I legitimately challenged the PAL test under him and wrote the test myself and he graded it. I will have to find out more. I don't want to give out his name as I have only just heard about it.

Wow that's crazy. Any new info? It doesn't really surprise me with Canadian Tire. They can be different to deal with. I can go buy arrows and sometimes broadheads of the shelf but they want my drivers lic for pellets?

It really doesn't have anything to do with Canadian Tire, it is about the instructor that did the Hunting license training. The people that have got their license through him for a certain period back have been notified that their license is no longer valid, either by mail from the hunter safety education program or when they go to renew their license or buy a gun and a PAL check is done. I wrote the PAL test through him but I wrote my hunting test and practical many years ago when the MNR did it which I think is why I wasn't affected. The issue is more geared to the hunter training.

How can Canadian Tire know who did the test to screen then?

I would imagine the data base they have to use to validate PAL's and outdoors cards through flags it when they run your cards when buying guns or licenses. I really don't no all the intricate details.
