Well, we just got back from our moose trip but it was more of a holiday than anything else. We had a great train ride from Washago up to Wabakimi enjoying the ride, having a few drinks and prime rib dinners along the way instead of the usual 22 hour long drive in the trucks.

We arrived at 2:00 in the morning and the train drove off leaving us in the pitch dark. We thought it would be a good idea to build a fire and wait to daylight. That was until the freight train went by at 100 mph and blew the fire out. Lesson learned, don't build fires along the tracks.. . Shortly after it began to rain so we cut some cedar boughs and laid them on the ground. We covered over with a tarp and fell asleep until daylight.

Once we got up and the rain stopped we canoed up the lake and found a nice camping spot on an island. We got set-up and fished the first few days. One thing we do is catch walleye and pike by the canoe load. We kept a few for some great shore lunches.

Not much to say for moose. Never saw anything and there was no sign anywhere.
It rained almost everyday for the first few days then was 30 degrees for the rest of the week. The last days made for some great camping and we had a lot of laughs around the fire and enjoyed the northern lights at night.

When it was time to go, we packed up and headed back. The train was 6 hours late making us wonder if we had missed it, but eventually it showed up and we were on our way back.

Overall it was a fantastic trip. No sign of moose, but some fantastic fishing and great times with friends. Can't wait for our next adventure.
