Finally got my first bear. I made the decision 25 years ago if i ever shot a bear it would be with the bow. I have taken pictures of them over the years and sat beside my friend take one with the rifle, but i stuck to my bow over the years.
He finally showed up. I watched him come down from 80 yards away and sauntered into range. Making no mistake i placed the arrow right where it needed to go. I watched as he took off through the prickly ash and then heard nothing.
I went back to the house and got the tracks on the argo and headed back. The trail started right at the arrow where it was a complete passthrough. 40 yards later he was laying there.
I drove the argo through the prickly ash (tracks work great for that) and winched him out into an opening and up into the back for the ride home.
I have fought through shoulder injuries and surgeries the last few years but this hunt has kept me driving on to use my bow. I set up the target in my hayloft and been strengthening and practicing for that moment.
It was all worth it.

Adventure,

Congratulations!

Thank you for the great story. Definitely an example of perseverance and working hard to accomplish what you planned to do 25 years ago.
