Good luck tomorrow with the gun hunt down there buddy. I know you have been after the big guy. Post some pics when you get him and make up some Jerky so we have something to snack on during Ice fishing. :D :D :D
Just heard the Walleyed Assasin got a buck the other day. Going to go over tonight to visit him. I am gonna take the knife and get the tenderloins when he is not looking.LOL.
Take care buddy, be safe and Good luck.

well NY hunting season has been a bit slow to say the least not alot of pressure kinda out of the norm really . I passed a 4 point early morning same 4 point i passed 2 other times with my bow this archery season. I watched him walk down the trail and off my property onto the state land and POW!!! . I just shook my head and thought dum deer he should have stayed right where he was safe.
Later I walked down in and found 2 guys on the track they said they shot a 4 point i said I KNOW!!! lol . well long story short they didnt find it guy said he thinks he shot it to far front he lead it a bit much because it was on a slow trot thru the woods

Well today second day im sitting in my stand and see a deer comming with a bad limp as it gets closer I see its back foot is blown apart down low at the ankle right above the hoove long story short i filled my only buck with the gun tag for this year so now ill have to hunt the big boys with the muzzle loader rest of the year cause its an either sex tag so we have Jerky ........ Grizz

Hey buddy,
Nice looking deer. I know your probly dissapointed as you were holding out for the big guy but you did the right thing. Same thing happened a few years ago when another gang wounded a little 6 pointer. My dad and i seen him the first and second day of the rifle hunt and he ran over to another group who wounded the deer. 2 days later we filled one of our tags and finished the job the other gang failed to do. I hate seeing any animal have to suffer.
Yummmmm JERKY......
Well done Chuck.

You definitely did the right thing and can be just as proud of that deer as any other with bigger horns...

Very nice Grizz. :) Hopefully he will still eat well. Not to much adrenaline through him.

yep I hear you there catch, thats always the trouble with dispatching a wounded deer they always seem to eat tought...... one shot one swift kill the meat is usually best no matter how old the deer this lil guy had a tough night im sure but i had a feed last night of some tenderloin and it wasnt too bad really I have eaten tougher thats for sure lol and as a rule id rather eat crow then to try to pull off a quick shot at running deer and this is the reason. grizz
