Not sure if its already been asked, but is it possible to disable the GPS? Thinking the unit would draw less power if only using the sonar.. Thanks.

I have one and have never tried to do that but you're right it would use less power. Another thing you can do to save battery life is to turn down the brightness.

Also. Would two 12v 7amp batteries wired in parallel harm the unit? I figure 12v 14amps would hold plenty of juice to run a HDS.

Can't be done. I sure wish it could. I just went through a unit to double check and nowhere do they have a "Hide GPS" feature. The older units could do this like a LMS and LCX unit but it looks like something Lowrance as taken out.
