Hello Lawren and Jack, I bought my X67c last yr at Radioworld . I have charged it all of 3 times, when I went to charge it last night , as soon as I connected the alligator clips, a big spark came from the wall plug charger and fried it. Odd because : (a) yes I did have red on positive and black on negative

and(b) I didn't even plug the wall charger in when connecting the alligator clips.
I'm not looking for a free replacement because it's been a little over a yr I've owned it but since I've only used the charger 3 times before it got cooked I'm wondering if this is a common problem with this wall charger , can I order just a wall charger from Radioworld ? Thanks for any info , Brad

Hey Brad

I have never heard of that happen before with any of the brands of chargers we sell. Send me an email at lawren@radioworld.ca and I'll look into what we can do for you.

Thanks

Lawren

Crazy that I just found this post I didn't get my x67c at Radioworld but I had the same thing happen yesterday. I had a spark fly off quick, so I unplugged the charger. I plugged it back in and it came on but after 40 mins I could smell plastic burning. Went to the charger and it stunk and was too hot to touch. I had to turn off my breaker just so I could unplug it, who knows what would of happened if I wasn't home . I've had the unit for two years now with no problems til now.

I'm glad you shared that, makes me think to play it safe , I'll charge it up only when I'm home. I got my new one yesterday and works great !
I'm wondering if you can use another 12v trickle charger like from Canadian Tire ?

Mine doesn't work anymore either(probably 6or7 years old now) hasn't worked in couple years. No sparks or anything just wouldn't charge battery anymore. I use it year round and have no issues at all with the unit.
Cheers

So what kind of charger do you use for it now?

Tint wizard

I either use this trickle charger

Or my bigger charger set to 2amps

I prefer the bigger one because of the auto shut off feature. The smaller 1 amp one doesn't have light like the original to tell you when it's done. So I have to unplug it and hook up fish finder to see if it's fully charged or not.

I figured you could use a larger one but wanted to hear from someone that it's worked good before blowing the battery due to too much amperage lol
Thanks for sharing !

Does anyone know where I can buy a new charger and battery for this unit. My charger just fried when I went to charge my battery. Filled my place with smoke in a matter of minutes, glad I was home. Battery will no longer hold a charge. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Slabman aka John

We have Vexilar ones in stock that come with a higher capacity 9amp hr battery than the X67c originally came with. They will work with your unit http://radioworld.ca/v-120-p-6730.html. Its what I use on my HDS5
