Hey Lawren, I use the factory Minn Kota Transducer in my Fortexx on my bow mounted HDS7. My question is I have a regular shoot thru at the back that my HDS 8 uses. If I set the front transducer to work at 83khz would that create less interference on my HDS 7 screen? It will also give me a smaller cone, but seeing as I am usually only fishing in water less than 40 feet does it (smaller cone) really make a difference? I usually just stop sonar on the structure and rear transducer when I am on the electric drop shotting etc. to avoid interference and stay quieter.

Thanks,

Colin :D

Hi Colin

It should help quite a bit, but there may still be the odd line of interference. It will be way better than if you left both on 200kHz.

The 83kHz will actually give you a much wider cone so you'll pick up a lot more on the screen. What I would do is set the unit at the console to 83kHz before you get to the front and then put it back on 200 when you are back at the console. I find 200kHz does a WAY better job on the trolling motor than 83kHz in 95% of the situations you'll be in when bass fishing.
