Hi Radioworld, please advise if Lowrance Portable ice pack PPP-181 can be used with Lowrance HDS5
is it plug and play or do I need to purchase any thing else

Yes you can use that PPP-18i for the HDS5. You will need a HDS ICE ADAPTER kit as well to go along with the kit. The adapter kit comes with a blue transducer adapter, and the HDS5 mounting bracket

sailor - Yes the 339 would work with the PPP18i and the HDS adapter kit. The HDS5 bracket is slightly bigger than the LMS339 but you can squeeze it in to make it work. I have done this in the summer without a problem, but in the cold the plastic may snap under the pressure. You can order the adapter and a GB14 (the proper 339 bracket) separately to make it work!
