Okay I'm looking to add another sonar/gps combo to my boat, 17 foot Tracker Deep V. Half my fishing time is bass fishing, other half trolling/jigging for walleye and a bit of salmon trolling.

I currently have a HB 587ci combo on the console and an older Lowrance only sonar at the bow.

The plan is to buy a new combo for the console and move my current 587 to the bow.

I am trying to decide between the 587ci HD DI Combo or the 788ci Combo.

I don't have any experience with Down Imaging, so I am not sure if the 587 with DI would serve my better or the 788 with a bit bigger screen and higher resolution?

Anyone have any thoughts? I am leaning towards 587 DI.

Looking to say in the $500 range.

I have space on my console, so I am considering adding a second mount and wiring so when trolling I can have both sonars on the console and run 1 full screen gps and 1 full screen sonar.

Any advice welcomed.

Down Imaging is certainly worth it if you ask me. If you fish anywhere with vertical cover (weeds) and I know the Bay has lots of them...Down Imaging will be of big benefit. Between the 2 units you mentioned I think I would go with the 587ci HD DI. It fits the budget and its a full featured unit.
