I saw that these units are on sale, 575-150 mail in rebate = 425

Will this work with the new touch screen units, or do you have to buy the touch screen with the built in structure scan ??

Planning on going to a touch 7 and keeping a gen 1 hds 5 for the front.

Do i need two gen 2 units ?

If you get the HDS7 Touch you can buy it in a bundle with the LSS transducer already. http://radioworld.ca/gen2-touch-ssxdcr-p-11251.html

You wouldn't need the LSS2 HD kit for this setup as the Touch unit has the LSS built in and it will network with your Gen 1.
