I just picked up the Navionics Hotmaps premium C6 chip from Radioworld, thanks Lawren. It's so much nicer to have the info on the humminbird rather than staring at my phone. I tried to mark a way point on my humminbird 597 with the navionics chip in, and it displayed a warning message that doing so could damage/corrupt the chip!?

Has anyone tried doing this? Does it really damange the chip?

If the chip is damaged by adding waypoints is there any way to restore it to defaults?

The 597 unit only has one memory card slot, is there a way to save the waypoints on the unit itself and not the card?

I think the reason they tell you that is so you don't end up deleting the mapping files off the card when you put the card in your computer to view the waypoints.

I have never seen that message come up when trying to save a waypoint though. I could see it happening when trying to save a screen capture or something else that writes directly to the card.

Thanks for the input Lawren. All I did was hit "mark" on the 597, and it said it was going to save to the card, which could corrupt the card?! Is there a way to specify where the 597 saves it's waypoints to?

I don't know of any place that you can select where the waypoints save. I would double check to see that Screen Captures are turned off. If they are turned on then that is probably what is causing you to get that message. I just tried that on our demo unit and I got the same message you got.
