First off a big thanks to Lawren who shipped me a new Lowrance ice kit for my Elite 5 in record time.

I have used it a few times now and it certainly helped me ice a few fish. It was working fine with a nice image of both the fish and my lure. However, the last two times I used it I have been getting a double image of my lure. In 20 FOW, there is one image is below the bottom and the same image about 5 feet above bottom. I have the setting on ice and since then I have tried a few different options to get rid of this including sensitivity and ping speeds.

Any thoughts to eliminate this?

Make sure your battery is fully charged and all electrical connections are good.

Most intermittent issues are battery related.

Saying that, try turn your gain down until it goes away. In your case it may be turn down the sensitivity.

I've seen the same thing. It may just go away on your next outing.

Good luck

I took it out last night and the battery was charged and everything connected properly. It displayed a double image again but it was more of a get together night than a fishing night anyway so I didn't bother playing with the settings. Fish showed up properly, it just seems to be the lure that does it. I noticed after an hour or so it went back to a single image.
Any other thoughts what would cause it?

I have never seen that issue before. Sometimes if you have ice on your line it will show up and give you the illusion of a double echo..but that will obviously melt and go away.

First question would be which lure are you using? If you are using a pickeral rig this could happen.

Secondly have you updated the software yet? http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Software- ... /Elite-40/ I had a couple of issues with my Elite5 CHIRP and the 4.0 update addresses some glitches.

Can you post some pictures?

Lawren

I had to update the unit as suggested and after that I was able to get rid of the double image by turning the sensitivity down to around 58 and the ping speed to fast.

I'd really like to see some screen shots of this issue because I haven't heard of it before or seen it. I was doing some technical training with Lowrance this week and nothing like this was mentioned as a common issue.

Sounds like it may have just been an issue with the older software if the updated helped

Lawren, thanks for the help about the update, I wanted to take a picture of the double image for you before I got it cleared up but I dropped my camera down into a waterfall late last year and haven't replaced it yet.
