Hi Lawren,
Im looking at the new hds Gen 3 units and want to know which transducer do I need to take advantage of the chirp capabilities. This unit would be for the bow of a bassboat

Hey Dan: Chirp will work with your normal transducer but to get optimal images use the Airmar TM150M transducer. It was designed with chirp in mind.

Thanks, for that but might be out of my budget range. I looked up the price on a few american sites. $300 plus in US funds. Ouch

Lowrance has done a lot of testing on the transducers and have found their HDI Skimmer and the TM150M to be the ones that provided the best results. I tried the HDI transducer on my Elite CHIRP unit ice fishing this year and it did provide better results than the traditional ice ducer on Medium CHIRP in deeper water (60'+)

The HDI Skimmer is $141 currently http://radioworld.ca/lowrance-skimmer-t ... 12828.html. The big plus to using this transducer is you will also get down imaging with it on a HDS Touch Gen2 and Gen3.
