I am new to ice fishing electronics, I only plan to go out a handful of times each season so I am looking for something economical that will do the job on BOQ in the 8-20 ft range I mostly fish. Also, should I consider used as I am sure people are going to upgrade around Christmas.
Suggestions gladly welcomed.

I'd take a look at the Vexilar FL8, the MarCum VX1P for flashers and the Lowrance Elite 4x HDI Ice if you want a traditional sonar instead. Those are all budget friendly options and they will all do a great job with the type of fishing you'll be doing.

Look at the Lowrance Elite 3 X all season. Works great comes with 2 transducers one ice and 1 open water, carry pack. Good bang for the buck.
