Lowrance has a new update for ti, hook2, HDs Gen3, And Carbon.

One of the features is being able to use navionics sonar chart live DISPLAY on the lowrance unit immediately instead of having to use the sonar log to upload to the c-map (formerly insight genisis) site and have to wait a week to get the map to download for your unit.

This sounds great for ppl going on trips for a week to an uncharted lake (the c map would be useless in this case), but an immediate map showing is great.

I currently have a Gen2 touch 9” hooked up with a Gen2 5” for the map at the helm. My sonar is hooked into the 9”. But I’m considering replacing the 5” with either a Gen3 7” or Carbon, what I need to know though is will the mapping feature still work if the sonar stays on the Gen2 9” and the new unit gets hooked up to the 9” via Ethernet and n2k? Or does everything gotta be hooked into the carbon/Gen3 to make the sonar chart live maps?

I have never seen a situation like that so I can't say for sure, but it shouldn't be an issue because the unit will have the data that Navionics needs on it through Ethernet
