I have the Lowrance Hook 5 DI Splitshot with the Navionics package (updated the map about last month with the community edits) and have noticed that a lot of the shoals/sudden depth changes throughout the Bay of Quinte and on the Trent River that are depicted on Navionics are not actually there when I drive over them. Anyone else have this issue?

If you have the Sonar Charts layer on I have experienced this on other lakes as well. I would recommend turning that off when navigating and only using it as a supplement to the Navionics charts

I have noticed this as well and I believe you will find that there are a lot of missing drops. With this in mind if you are using the split screen you will find the drops easily, getting away from the Sonar Charts for me is not an option. I split my Hook 7 TS screen and run my DI full time, you will be surprised at what does show on the Nav. page.

I actually started getting into recording my own maps, using the Navionics feature. Gives me excellent accuracy and I figure why the heck not. If anyone would like any of the files (Mostly Trenton and Belleville area) feel free to PM me!

I have found that in the bay. When fishing from a kayak as I sometimes do, it's a real pain in the ass when you make your way 2kms along to a hump that doesn't exist lol.

For what it's worth the charts are pretty good, but I wouldn't rely on them if you had a sailboat or something that drew a lot of water. It's not just the Bay either...I found in the kawarthas on the weekend it could be off by 5-10 feet depth wise on some of the humps/shoals etc. and also found sometimes the shoal was really about 100 feet away from where the chart said it was.

Community edits would be a good thing to use. So would having side imaging and mapping your own waters for your own use. I just bought a boat and plan to get at least 1 FF with side imaging and the ability to map.
