Clip Weights

Hey Guys
I am looking for some advice please, I ran clip wieghts last week for the first time and i do not believe my set-up was correct.The wieghts are only 2 oz and it was making my board run wacky, kinda dragging nose up, is this also normal?
1.What is the average weight people generally use in-order to get that extra depth?
2. How far of the board and/or bait do we clip the wait? I am generally on a 2 rod spread 150 ft and 250 ft.
Thanks for any feedback because i was considering lead core but I thought this would be a excellent alternative being a heck more user friendly.

What baits were you running? If you run the right baits, you dont need any additional weight

those don't need clip weights....

they already dive 30' down....

Allot of guys use what they call the 50/50 method. Let out 50 feet of line....attach your weight....let out another 50 and clip on your board. I don't use snap weights very often...but when I do I usually go 75/75 or 100/100. Like Landshark and Steve have suggested you don't need em with td11's or RR's....they will go plenty deep if you let out enough line....especially with braid. Save you snap weights for non-diving sticks/spoons. I have run up to 3oz off of offshore boards with no tracking problems to speak of.... and other than the releases my boards are stock.

Gordo, those are great baits and will do the trick. I know its tempting when you see fish down deeper. Keep in mind that walleye will come up 30 ft to hit a bait. The other aspect that is that if you did get a deep fish to commit,the chances of healthy release greatly diminish the deeper he comes from. Now have faith, go get em and make us jealous.

Thanks for the feedback guys i apreciate the assistance, no clip weights for the gordo. As i said earleir in post i just tryed them for the first time last week and was not reallty sure if there were neccesary.ps landshark I went 4/5 today see new post.
